(Bear in mind the current administration is most under fire, but all previous ones exhibited some of this behavior which can and does take place within many corporations both for profit/non-profit)

Questions to ask yourself?

  1. If Trump was elected based on his stance to label extremists/terrorists,
why is it so hard for him to denounce other hate crimes?

  2. If FOX News claims CNN and other national news networks are hard left,
why are they so hard right?  Is it related to their guarantee of ratings
    for that audience?

  3. If Trump thinks he is treated so unfairly by the media, might any of his
claims be true?  A CNN representative did provide the Clinton campaign
with debate questions ahead of time. Is this enough for him to make this

  4. Does Trump tell the truth any more or any less than previous leaders?
  5. What bias exists on all sides?
  6. Is a fair press under fire?  The American people victims?

Supplemental Course Materials for
Erik Bean Students: Focus Dystopian Society

Books and Films like Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, George Orwell's 1984, and even the Hunger Games paint a glib picture of life in future societies where watching citizens closely and denying them freedoms such as access to transparent information are often masked by modern technology. Are parts of today's society leading to an oppressed dystopian future? This supplemental course materials site is under construction as January 2017. More links and materials coming soon.

Pulitzer(1904) summarized credo: "Our Republic and its press will rise or fall together. An able, disinterested, public-spirited press, with trained intelligence to know the right and courage to do it, can preserve that public virtue without which popular government is a sham and a mockery. A cynical, mercenary, demagogic press will produce in time a people as base as itself. The power to mould the future of the Republic will be in the hands of the journalists of future generations."
